JoVE’s Text-to-Speech feature is designed to enhance accessibility by allowing users to listen to text rather than read it, improving the user experience for those with visual impairments or learning preferences.
How to Enable Text-to-Speech
- Log in to your JoVE account.
- Navigate to the top right corner of the screen and click on your user account and then click on Manage My Account.
- In the account settings, locate the Text-to-Speech Support option and toggle it to the “On” position.
- Click Save Settings, and you are ready to use it.
How It Works
Once Text-to-Speech is enabled, you will see a small speaker icon appear next to text on various pages, including:
- Research pages
- Education pages
- All video pages
Click the speaker icon, and the system will read the text aloud to you, making it easier to consume content without reading it yourself.
Why Use Text-to-Speech?
The primary goal of the Text-to-Speech feature is to enhance JoVE’s accessibility for all users. Whether you have visual impairments, learning disabilities, or simply prefer to listen to content, this feature ensures that you can engage with JoVE’s scientific and educational materials in a way that best suits your needs.
By enabling Text-to-Speech, you’ll have an alternative way to access JoVE’s extensive content, making it easier to absorb information on your own terms.
If you have any questions or encounter issues with the Text-to-Speech feature, please feel free to reach out to our support team at support@jove.com.
