Integrating JoVE content into your Moodle courses is simple, with multiple methods available to suit your needs. Below are the main ways to add JoVE videos, playlists, and quizzes to Moodle.
1. Embedding JoVE Videos
You can easily embed individual JoVE videos into Moodle.
- Steps:
- Log into your JoVE account. If you don’t have one, sign up at JoVE Account and select the "Professor/Instructor" role.
- On the JoVE website, select the video you want to embed and copy the embed code.
- Log into Moodle, navigate to your course, and turn editing on.
- Select 'Add an activity or resource', then choose 'Page'.
- Enter a name for the page, then paste the embed code into the 'Content' section using the HTML editor.
- Save the page and make sure it is visible to students.
2. Loading a Common Cartridge File
A common cartridge allows you to add multiple JoVE videos at once into Moodle.
- Steps:
- Request a common cartridge from your JoVE Curriculum Specialist by emailing CustomerSuccess@jove.com.
- Log into Moodle, turn editing on, and select 'Add an activity or resource'.
- Choose 'IMS content package' and upload the common cartridge file.
- Save the content, and the videos will appear in your course for easy access.
3. Using JoVE LTI Tool
The Learning Tool Interoperability (LTI) tool seamlessly integrates JoVE videos, playlists, and quizzes directly into your Moodle course.
- Steps for LTI 1.3 Tool:
- Log into Moodle, turn editing on, and select 'Add an activity or resource'.
- Choose 'External tool' and select JoVE LTI Tool 1.3.
- Browse and select videos, playlists, or quizzes from the JoVE content library.
- Save and return to the course to make the content visible to students.
