Integrating JoVE content into your Moodle courses is simple. Below are six primary methods to add JoVE videos, playlists, and quizzes to Moodle.
1. Embedding JoVE Videos

Steps:
- Below the JoVE video that you want to embed, click the "<> EMBED" button.
- Copy the embed code and log into Moodle.
- Select the appropriate course from My courses.
- At the upper right, click Turn editing on.
- Choose the appropriate week or topic, then click + Add an activity or resource.
- From the menu, select Page and click Add at the bottom.
- In the General section, add a name to the page in the Name box.
- In the Content section, click the HTML/source button on the far left.
- Paste the embed code into the Page content box.
- For page text, visit the JoVE video page and copy the descriptive text below the video.
- Return to Moodle and paste that text below the embedded video.
- Click Save and return to course.
- Click the new activity from the course page to view the video.
- Click Turn editing off.
2. Loading a Common Cartridge File
You can request a Common Cartridge from your JoVE Curriculum Specialist. If you’re not sure who that is, email CustomerSuccess@jove.com.

Steps:
- Select the appropriate course from My courses in Moodle.
- Click Turn editing on (top right).
- Click Add an activity or resource, scroll to Resources, select IMS content package, then click Add.
- Name your Common Cartridge, click Choose a file, and upload the Common Cartridge saved on your computer. (Contact your Curriculum Specialist to request one.)
- Click Save and return to course.
- Click Turn editing off.
- Click the Common Cartridge item to see all videos embedded within it.
3. Loading a SCORM File with JoVE Quiz Content

Steps:
- On the JoVE site, go to Education → JoVE Quiz.
- Go to My Quizzes.
- For the quiz you want in SCORM format, click Download as SCORM.
- In Moodle, click Turn editing on, select Add an activity or resource, and choose SCORM package.
- Fill in the settings as shown in the table below.
- Click Save and return to course when finished.

4. Using the JoVE LTI 1.3 Tool - Add Videos

Steps:
- Log into Moodle.
- Select your course and click Turn editing on (top right).
- Click + Add an activity or resource.
- Select External tool.
- Choose JoVE LTI Tool 1.3, then click Select content.
- In the JoVE picker, select Videos to add one or multiple videos. They will appear under Content in Moodle.
- Click Submit.
- Back in Moodle, scroll down and click Save and return to course.
- The selected content is integrated into the course. Click Turn editing off, then open the video.
5. Using the JoVE LTI 1.3 Tool - Add Playlists

Steps:
- Log into Moodle.
- Select your course and click Turn editing on (top right).
- Click Add an activity or resource and select External tool.
- Under General, choose JoVE LTI Tool from the Preconfigured tool dropdown.
- Click Select content and sign in to your JoVE account (or register).
- Select Playlist from My Playlists, JoVE Playlists, or Shared With Me to add one or multiple playlists.
- The selected playlists will appear under Content below.
- Click Submit.
- Back in Moodle, click Save and return to course.
- The content appears in the course. Click Turn editing off and open a video to start the playlist.
6. Using the JoVE LTI 1.3 Tool - Add Quizzes

Steps:
- Log into Moodle. Select your course and click Turn editing on (top right).
- Click + Add an activity or resource.
- Select External tool.
- Choose JoVE LTI Tool 1.3, then click Select content.
- Select Test from the Content Type.
- Click Create a test (top right).
- Enter a Name for the assessment and choose Graded or Ungraded as the type.
- Select Add Subjects and pick the subject from the list.
- Optionally set an End Date and a duration (for example, 10 minutes).
- Scroll down, click +, and choose one of: Add Blank Question, Import Playlist, or Videos.
- If you choose Videos, questions from the chosen videos will be shown.
- Click the X to close the window.
- Click Save Assessment at the top.
- Click + to add the Test under Add New LTI Tool; the quiz appears under Content.
- Click Submit (bottom right).
- Back in Moodle, scroll down to Grade and enter a value for Maximum grade.
- Click Save and return to course.
- The content appears in the course. Click Turn editing off and start the quiz.
