Understanding JoVE SSO JIT: Article Access Made Simple

JoVE (Journal of Visualized Experiments) supports Single Sign-On (SSO) with Just-In-Time (JIT) provisioning to allow users to access licensed content using their institutional credentials. This article provides an overview of how JoVE SSO JIT works and what level of access it provides.

What Is JoVE SSO JIT?

SSO JIT (Single Sign-On with Just-In-Time provisioning) allows users to access JoVE content by authenticating through their institution’s SSO system.

When a user logs in via SSO:

  • If an account exists, it is used as-is with its existing permissions.

  • If no account exists, a new JoVE user account is created automatically.

  • When an account is created, the user will be asked for their role, and all the permissions associated with that role will be available for the user

Who Controls SSO JIT?

SSO JIT configuration is entirely managed by institutional administrators or librarians.
Standard users do not have the ability to enable, disable, or modify JIT settings.

Conclusion

JoVE SSO JIT provides seamless, institution-managed access to articles, videos, quizzes, and all other features through SSO authentication.
