Resetting Your JoVE Password and Not Receiving the Reset Email

 
 

Overview

This article explains how users can reset their JoVE password and what steps to take if they do not receive the Reset Password email.
It is intended for existing JoVE users—including faculty, students, and administrators—who access JoVE via direct login (email + password).

This guide applies to users accessing JoVE from:

  • www.jove.com → Login

  • Any JoVE content page requiring user login

A. Guide on how to Reset Your JoVE Password

If you remember your email but forgot your JoVE password, you may kindly reset it from the login page. Please see the steps below.

Steps

  1. Go to www.jove.com

  2. Select Log in (top-right corner).

  3. Select Forgot password?image-20251213-001947.png

     
     
  4. Enter your Institutional email address.

  5. Select Send password reset email.

  6. Check your inbox for an email titled “Reset Your JoVE Password”.

  7. Select the link in the email and follow the instructions to create a new password.


B. I Did Not Receive the Password Reset Email

If you do not see the reset email within a few minutes, please follow the steps below.

Direct Answer

Most users do not receive the reset email because it goes to spam/junk, is blocked by an institution’s firewall, or the email address does not match a JoVE account.

Troubleshooting Steps

1. Please check your email folders

  • Open your email inbox.

  • Check Spam, Junk, Promotions, or Other tabs.

  • Search for:

    • “JoVE”

    • “Reset Your JoVE Password”

If found, please open the email and kindly follow the reset link.


2. Please confirm you used the correct email

Users often enter:

  • A personal email when the account is registered with an institutional email, or

  • A work email when the account was created using SSO (Single Sign-On).

Please try logging in again using your institution-issued email.


Case: The password reset link expired

Password reset links can expire for security reasons, and we understand this can be frustrating—especially when you need quick access. Please do note that the reset password link is only valid for 24 hours, so if you are attempting to use it after that timeframe, it will no longer work.

If this happens, please repeat the steps to request a new reset email. A fresh link will be sent to you right away, and you’ll be able to create a new password without any issues.

 

Case: I see an error on the reset page
