How to Create and Manage Classes on MyClass

Introduction to MyClass

MyClass is a powerful tool designed to simplify the process of sharing class materials with students. It allows educators to seamlessly collate JoVE Playlists and Quizzes, enabling effective distribution and tracking of student engagement with course materials.

How to Access and Create a Class on JoVE

  1. Log In: Start by logging into your JoVE account.
  2. Navigate to MyClass: Click on the Education dropdown in the header and select My Class.Screenshot 2024-10-11 at 1.19.27 PM.png
  3. Create a New Class:
    • Click on the Create new Class button.
    • Fill in the necessary details in the overlay that appears.
    • Click on Create New Class to finalize your class setup.

  4. View Your Classes: Your newly created class will appear under the My Classes section.
  5. Collaborate: A JoVE Curriculum Specialist can also create and share a class with you, which will appear under Draft Classes.

Adding Playlists to Your Class

  1. Inside your class, click on the Add Playlist button under the Playlist tab.
  2. An overlay will display the playlists you have created on JoVE.
  3. Select one or more playlists from the list.
  4. Click on the Confirm Playlist button to add the selected playlists to your class.

Adding Quizzes to Your Class

  1. Navigate to the Quizzes tab within your class and click on the Add Quiz button.
  2. An overlay will show the quizzes you have created on JoVE.
  3. Select one or more quizzes from the list.
  4. Click on the Confirm Quizzes button to add the selected quizzes to your class.

Inviting Students to Your Class

  1. Ensure that you have at least one playlist or quiz added to your class; the Invite Students button will be inactive in an empty class.
  2. Once you’ve added content, click on the Invite Students button.
  3. An overlay will appear, providing three different methods to invite students to join your class.

Viewing Analytics in Your Class

  1. The View Analytics button will activate once at least one student has watched a video in a playlist.
  2. Click on this button to see which students have engaged with which videos.
  3. The report will display the date each student watched a video for the first time.
  4. You can download the complete report for better readability and analysis.
