How to Add JoVE Content to Blackboard Ultra: Step-by-Step Guide

Integrating JoVE content into your Blackboard Ultra course is straightforward with this detailed guide. Follow these instructions to ensure a smooth setup.

Step 1: Create a New Learning Module

  1. Access your course:
    • Navigate to the Course Content page in Blackboard Ultra.
  2. Create a Learning Module:
    • Click the + icon at the top of the page and select Create.
    • Choose the Learning Module from the available options.
    • Provide a name for the module that reflects the JoVE content (e.g., "JoVE Video Library").

Step 2: Upload the Common Cartridge

  1. Open the Learning Module you just created.
  2. Click the + icon within the module and select Browse Content Collection.
  3. In the Content Collection view:
    • Click the Upload dropdown menu and select Upload Zip Package.

Step 3: Import the JoVE Common Cartridge

  1. In the Upload Zip Package dialog:
    • Click Browse Local Files to locate the JoVE .imscc file on your computer.
    • Select the desired file and click Submit to upload the package.

Step 4: Add Videos from the Package

  1. Once the package is uploaded, navigate to the wiki_content folder within the package.
  2. Select all video files in this folder.
  3. Click Save to add the videos as individual items to the Learning Module.

Step 5: Organize and Manage Content

  1. The JoVE videos will now appear as individual items within the Learning Module.
  2. Use the following features to organize your content:
    • Drag and drop to reorder videos within the module.
    • Use the visibility options to:
      • Hide specific videos from students.
      • Move videos to other modules if needed.
