Creating, Editing and Saving a Playlist

Accessing the JoVE Playlists section

• To access the JoVE Playlist section, click on the ‘Education’ dropdown from the header on https://app.jove.com/ and click on ‘JoVE Playlists’

• OR after signing in you can click on the profile icon dropdown in the top right corner and click on ‘JoVE Playlists’

Creating a new Playlist

Starting from the Playlist Library (Using the ‘Add to My Playlist’ option)

• Allows you to add a playlist from the library to your My Playlist. Clicking on this button will take you to the Playlist Builder where you can edit the playlist (add, remove or rearrange videos) as you like.

Start with an empty playlist

• You can start with an empty playlist by clicking on the ‘Create New Playlist’ button in the top right corner in the Playlist Library or under My Playlists. Clicking on the button will take you to the playlist builder.

Editing a playlist

Playlist Settings

• When you start creating a new playlist, you will first see the playlist settings section as shown below. Fill the details of the playlist (Playlist Name is compulsory) and click on Done to start editing your playlist.
  
  

• If you would like to edit the playlist settings again, you can do so by clicking the setting icon in the top right corner.

Adding and rearranging video and labels in the builder

• You can search for the video you like from the left hand side panel. You can search within JoVE Education or within JoVE Research. Under ‘JoVE Research’ you can also filter the articles by their ‘Publication Date’.
• You can drag and drop the videos from the left hand panel into the builder area.

• You can add a label using the ‘Add Label’ button, and add videos under the label as shown below.

• You can rearrange the videos and the labels by clicking on and holding the six dots as shown below and dragging the element up or down as you like. 
• You can also rearrange the order of video within a label in a similar fashion.
• You can also move the videos in and out of a label.

Saving a playlist

• To save your new playlist or to save changes to an existing playlist, click on the ‘Save’ button in the top right corner. You can now click on the ‘Back to My Playlists’ button and download your playlist as a CC file or share the link with your students!

• If you’d like to discard your changes, click on the cancel button in the top right corner. You will be asked to confirm if you want to discard your changes as shown below. 
• Note that clicking on ‘Back to My Playlist’ from the top left corner or clicking your browsers back button will be treated as a ‘discard changes’ action for the playlist. You will be asked to confirm if you want to discard your changes. 

Adding videos to a playlist from a video page

• If you are on a JoVE Education video page like this one - https://app.jove.com/v/10647 and you want to add this video to one of your playlists, then click on the ‘Add to playlist’ button. 

• Click on the tick box next to the playlist name to add the video to a playlist!

• If in case you’d like to add this video to a new playlist you can do so by click on the ‘Create New Playlist’ button in the bottom left corner of the ‘Add to Playlist’ modal and enter the name of the playlist and click ‘Create’!
