Create and Manage Playlists

JoVE allows you to organize videos into playlists, making it easier to manage and group content based on your research, teaching needs, or personal preferences. Here’s how you can create playlist and add a video to a playlist in JoVE.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Sign in to Your JoVE Account
    Ensure you're signed in to your JoVE account to create and manage playlists. If you're not signed in, follow these instructions to sign in here

  2. Go to 'My Playlists'
    Navigate the JoVE website and click on your account in the top-right corner of the page.

  3. Click 'Create New Playlist'
    Enter a name for your playlist and provide details such as the playlist’s purpose, field of study, and your specialization.
    You can add videos immediately or later while browsing through them.

  4. Save Your Playlist
    After clicking 'Save,' your playlist will be created and ready for use.

Add Videos to the Playlist

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Navigate to the Video
    Browse through the JoVE library or use the search function to find the video you want to add to a playlist.
  2. Locate the Playlist Icon
    • On the video page, look for the Add to Playlist button located on the 3 dots underneath the video player. 
  3. Add to an Existing Playlist or Create a New One
    • If you already have playlists:
      Clicking on the Add to Playlist button will display a list of your existing playlists. Select the playlist to which you’d like to add the video.Screenshot 2024-10-17 at 9.59.29 AM.pngScreenshot 2024-10-17 at 10.24.53 AM.png 
      • If you want to create a new playlist:
        When the list of existing playlists appears, there will also be an option to create a new playlist. Click on this option, enter a name for your new playlist, and click Create. The video will automatically be added to the new playlist.HC_Playlist_Create.png
  4. Confirm the Addition
    After selecting the playlist, a confirmation message will appear, indicating that the video has been successfully added.

How to Access and Manage Your Playlists

  1. Go to Your Profile or Account Page
    To view your saved playlists, navigate to your Profile or Account page by clicking on your username at the top of the page.
  2. Open the Playlists Tab
    In your profile, click on My Playlists section. Here, you can view, edit, and manage all the playlists you have created.
  3. Rearrange or Remove Videos
    Inside the playlist, you can rearrange the order of the videos or remove any that you no longer want in the playlist.
